Code of Conduct

Last updated October 26, 2026

Draft: this document hasn't been reviewed by counsel yet and isn't in force. It describes how the service works today; the final version will replace it.

How we expect people to treat each other wherever Underpass brings them together.

Where it applies

Support conversations, community spaces we run, events we host, and any public code repositories we open. It also applies to our own team.

What we expect

  • Be respectful and patient, especially with people who are new.
  • Disagree about ideas, not people. Assume good intent until shown otherwise.
  • Give credit, accept feedback, and own your mistakes.
  • Respect privacy: don't share other people's information, configs or messages without consent.

What isn't okay

  • Harassment, threats, or insults, including about someone's identity or background.
  • Sexual language or imagery, and unwelcome attention.
  • Sharing someone's personal information without permission (doxxing).
  • Spam, trolling, or deliberately disrupting a conversation.
  • Encouraging any of the above.

Reporting

If something here happens to you or you see it, write to legal@getunderpass.com with what happened, where and when. We keep reports confidential and won't retaliate against anyone who reports in good faith.

What we do

  1. A private reminder of this code, for something minor.
  2. A warning, with clear consequences if it continues.
  3. A temporary ban from the space.
  4. A permanent ban, for serious or repeated harm.

We decide based on the harm done, and may skip steps for anything serious.
